Doctor takes over the vacancy left by councilor Antônio Peixoto (Agir), who had his mandate revoked by TRE-AM

Manaus (AM) – This Friday (5), doctor Isaac Tayah (DC) took office as councilor of the 18th Legislature of the Manaus City Council (CMM). The parliamentarian takes over the vacancy left by Antônio Peixoto (Agir), who had his mandate revoked following a decision by the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-AM).

“I thank God, who allowed me to return to this Legislative House. This environment makes me emotional, I had a past here. I believe in our authentic work to improve the health of the city. Health needs a fix and I will fight for it”, stated the parliamentarian.

Biography

Isaac Tayah is an Amazonian from Manaus, a doctor graduated from the University of Amazonas (UEA), married and father of two children.

He was elected councilor for the first time to the Legislature from 1997-2000 and served six consecutive terms, until 2020. During the period, more than 200 laws were sanctioned or promulgated.

Between 2011 and 2012, Isaac was elected the 39th president of the Manaus City Council.

He holds a Master’s degree in Medicine (General Surgery) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2002), Medical Residency in General Surgery at Santa Casa de Ribeirão Preto-SP (1987).

Decision

The decision revoked the votes of the Agir party, due to fraud in the gender quota in the 2020 municipal elections. The revocation was voted on March 12th by TRE-AM. At the time, the score was 5-1.

The Court upheld the accusations of fraud regarding the gender quota against the party, voting to annul all the party’s votes. The consequence of this was the loss of councilor Peixoto (Agir)’s seat in the CMM.

According to current electoral legislation, each party must have at least 30% female candidates in proportional elections.

The Board of Directors of the CMM published the loss of the mandate of councilor Antônio Peixoto (Agir), following a determination by the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-AM). The information is contained in the Official Gazette of the Municipal Legislature (DOLM), published on Thursday (04/04).

The decision revoked the Agir party’s votes, due to fraud in the gender quota in the 2020 municipal elections.
