In the first FIFA ranking of 2024, Argentina remains at the top – News of Brazil

FIFA released this Thursday (15) the first update of the world ranking of men’s teams for 2024. Maintaining its leadership since last year, Argentina, current world champion, remains at the top of the list. The Brazilian team occupies fifth place.

As in the last update, the Top 10 remained unchanged, but the main changes took place after the end of the African Cup of Nations and the Asian Cup. Six teams from these continents rose ten positions or more in the rankings.

After winning their second consecutive Asian Cup title, the Qatar team was awarded and reached their best position in history, moving from 58th place to 37th. Jordan, runner-up in the competition, rose 17 positions and occupies 70th place. Thailand also progressed in the ranking, and now occupies 101st, after rising 12 positions.

Ivory Coast, champion of the 2024 African Cup of Nations, rose ten positions, occupying 39th place. After climbing 14 positions, runner-up Nigeria occupies 28th place. Angola was the team that rose the most in the ranking, going from 117th to 93rd. Morocco rose one more position and is now in 12th place, overtaking the United States.
