President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva wished the population a happy Easter in a video published on his social networks this Saturday afternoon (30). In the caption, the president wrote that Easter is a “moment of resurrection”.

“I wanted to wish you a good Easter, for grandparents, for mothers, for fathers, for children, for children. Telling you that together we will build a modern, supportive, fraternal and fair nation for all 203 million Brazilians who live here. A kiss from the heart and good luck to all of us”, said the president in the video recorded by the first lady, Janja Silva.

Right at the beginning of the video, however, Lula celebrates the six months since he had hip surgery and demands that the Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, speed up the SUS queue to carry out this type of procedure. According to the president, there are 40 thousand people waiting to undergo this surgery.

“I know it’s not easy, because I also found out that we have a queue in the SUS of 40 thousand people who need hip surgery. And I’m going to talk to our Minister of Health, with a view to making this line move forward, because it’s not possible for people to be in pain like I was. I was in pain for three years and I don’t want anyone to be in pain,” said the president.

Hip surgery

Lula underwent hip surgery on September 29 last year, at the Sírio Libanês hospital unit in Brasília. On that occasion, the president underwent total hip arthroplasty, on the right side of his body, to treat osteoarthritis.

In the procedure, both the head of the femur and the acetabulum are replaced with implants, providing relief and mobility to the patient. Osteoarthritis is a condition characterized by the wear of the cartilage that covers the joint, causing bone friction and inflammation.
