The governor of Pernambuco, Raquel Lyra (PSDB), said, at dinner with businessmen, on Tuesday night (2nd), in São Paulo, that she has already bragged about “all kinds of political violence” in her trajectory.

“I’m a woman and from the Northeast, I’ve lived it all. Politics scares women away. We need to have more representation among the people who decide the direction of money in political parties,” she said at the meeting. The governor highlighted the importance of having female participation in the political debate.

She also said that she went through many situations of machismo, including coming from her opponent in last year’s elections. She won the dispute with 58.70% of the valid votes, against 41.03% for Marília Arraes (Solidariedade).

The dinner was organized by the Esfera Brasil group and had the participation of Fabio Ermírio de Moraes, from the Votorantim group, Flávio Rocha, from Riachuelo, João Camargo, president of the Esfera board, among others.

At the event, Lyra also said she was in favor of the Fake News PL. “In the week of April 20, when rumors of massacres in schools emerged, some profiles posted images of the four main schools in Recife stating that one of them would be attacked. This needs to be regulated,” she said.

She also informed that President Lula (PT) “committed to unblock the Pernambuco arm of the [ferrovia] transnordestina”.

According to the governor, bureaucratic maneuvers were made in the past government to remove Pernambuco from the project.

She added that she recently received a last-minute invitation to participate in a meeting on current government actions to unlock important works in the Northeast. “The meeting was about [o porto de] Pecém, in Ceará, and they put my name in pen, very improvised”, she said.

In spite of this, Lyra said she sees the current president’s commitment to building a branch of the railroad to Porto de Suape, in Pernambuco. “This is part of Lula’s list of commitments in the past, he has a personal commitment to this.”
