Tiquinho Soares and Germán Cano star in the Cariocas clash at the top of the Brasileirão table

Rio de Janeiro – RJ) – Botafogo and Fluminense face each other, this Saturday (20), and in addition to the traditional rivalry, the confrontation for the 7th of the Brasileirão has an extra special ingredient: the dispute between two of the main scorers in the country.

Tiquinho Soares and Germán Cano enter the pitch of Nilton Santos, at 6:30 pm, fighting for the artillery of the year and the national competition, in a duel at the top of the table.

Playing at home, the Botafogo striker, leader of the championship, won over the fans. In 2023, the 32-year-old striker is experiencing one of the best-scoring phases in his career.

If in 2022, when he arrived at Fogão, the striker scored six goals in 14 games, in the current season there are already 16 balls in the net and 5 assists in 23 matches.

No wonder Tiquinho is the top scorer in the Brasileirão, with six goals scored. Raphael Veiga, from Palmeiras, is right behind, with four. And so, in a big phase, the number nine wants to help keep Glorioso at the highest point of the leaderboard.

But life for Tiquinho and Botafogo will not be the most peaceful. Luís Castro’s team will face the champion from Rio de Janeiro, in third place and eager to reach the top of the Brasileirão. And Fernando Diniz’s team has a special asset to try to beat Glorioso in their domains.

Unlike Tiquinho Soares, Germán Cano does not wear shirt number nine, but number 14. But just like the Botafogo striker, the Argentine is also enjoying a splendid phase in his career, in another great season with the Tricolor shirt.

In 2022, Cano scored an impressive 44 goals in 70 games. In 2023, there are already 24 networks stewed in 25 matches. If he only has two goals in the Brazilian Championship, Cano leads the ranking of top scorers in the country and wants to help Tricolor to beat the rival and reach the leadership of the national competition.
