Government of Amapá prepares to go to court against Ibama’s decision – News of Brazil

The governor Clecio Luis reported in an interview with Daily Communication System, on the morning of this Friday, the 19th, that the State Attorney General’s Office is studying legal means to oppose the decision of the president of the IBAMA, Rodrigo Agostinho, to prevent studies for oil exploration on the coast of Amapá.

clecio said that the idea is to appeal to Justice, on two fronts. The first, asking for reconsideration of Rodrigo for the decision that he signed and, another, filing of a lawsuit maintaining that the process was fully complied with, but that even so Ibama denied the right to research.

As he had already stated on Thursday (18), the governor said that the president of Ibama was irresponsible in taking the measure that, according to him, was deliberate so that the Petrobras dismantle what it has already built in Oiapoque for prospecting services.

“He made the decision to carry out the fait accompli policy, without knowing the Amazon, a region that has potential, but a poor population for not exploiting its natural resources”illustrated the ruler of Amapá.

Clecio Luis also noted that Rodrigo Augustine it is deliberately disrespectful to prevent accident simulation and research, knowing that Petrobras is a specialist in deep water drilling, having already drilled more than a thousand wells without a single accident.

The governor also noted that Petrobras is important for Amapá and Brazil, not only for fuel, with oil as a source, but also for the immense production of goods, through the petrochemical industry.

clecio he even came to remember a statement by the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, that Brazil cannot do without its oil wealth, but that in contrast, let Ibama practice a farce, irresponsibility and disrespect towards Amapá, which tries to help Brazil, seeking find out about the richness at the bottom of the waters of the Equatorial Margin.
