What happened?

Striker Gabigol, from Flamengo, was suspended for two years by the Anti-Doping Sports Court for doping test fraud. The penalty starts to be valid from April. The trial, which began last week, ended on Monday afternoon (25).

According to information from ge, the trial was tight, with a score of 5 to 4 in favor of Gabriel Barbosa’s punishment. The penalty came into effect on April 8, 2023, when the collection was carried out at the club’s CT, and will last until April 8, 2025. The attacker can still appeal.

Gabigol was accused of violating article 122 of the Brazilian Anti-Doping Code, which refers to “fraud or attempted fraud of any part of the control process”. The code provides for a suspension of up to four years in case of conviction.
