Furlan joins the MDB and expands party base in Amapá – News of Brazil

The MDB, after analysis with its leadership, decided to invite the mayor of the capital of Amapá, Antônio Furlan, to join the party.

The decision came from the president of the MDB, Baleia Rossi, and the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho.

The act of affiliation takes place at the emedebista headquarters, in Brasília, at 6pm today, with the presence of Baleia Rossi (national president of the party), Helder Barbalho (governor of Pará), Acácio Favacho (federal deputy), Renata Abreu (president national team of Podemos), Rayssa Furlan (municipal president of Podemos), among other political authorities and guests.

The decision to change the acronym was taken together with the president of Podemos, Renata Abreu, who released Antônio Furlan to run for re-election in Macapá, for the MDB, understanding the importance of the project to expand acronyms in the north of Brazil, ensuring full support for allies.

The objective of the change is to ensure that the MDB has greater support and is the one that can win the most mayors in the northern region this year.

The search for high-profile figures in the Amazon led Helder Barbalho, governor of Pará, to see in the mayor of Macapá a strong name that adds a lot to the party, representing well the team of politicians from the north of the country.

However, Furlan’s re-election plan will have support from several parties. In addition to Podemos, the following parties are also part of this party expansion, around Furlan’s candidacy: PSB (state president, Camilo Capiberibe), PSD (state president, senator Lucas Barreto) and PRB (state president Kassyo Ramos).

The objective of changing the acronym is to include parties that could accommodate their entire support base, which includes state deputies, councilors, mayoral candidates and allies, who will now have the party expansion acronyms to compose the nominations.

This new party composition will give Furlan’s allied parties the possibility of launching candidacies for mayor in at least nine municipalities in the state: Santana, Laranjal do Jari, Oiapoque, Tartarugalzinho, Porto Grande, Amapá, Pedra Branca, Calçoene and Mazagão.
