The 13th round of the English Championship ended this Monday, with a 3-2 victory for Fulham over Wolverhampton, at the Craven Cottage stadium, in London, where more than half of the goals were scored from the penalty spot.

Two of them were converted by Willian, ex-Corinthians, for the London side, who also went to the net with Iwobi. The other penalty led to Wolves’ second goal, scored by Hwang Hee-Chan, after Matheus Cunha, present in recent squad calls, scored the first.

The second penalty converted by Willian, in the 48th minute of the second half, ended a series of four games without a win in the English league experienced by Fulham, now 14th placed, with 15 points, the same score as Wolverhampton, 12th due to an advantage on goal difference. Between the two, there is still Crystal Palace, also with 15, in 13th. The first team in the relegation zone is Sheffield, 18th, with five.

The first half of the initial stage was very intense, with both teams managing to create interesting offensive moves at certain moments. Both entered the field with Brazilian pairs in the lineup. In addition to Willian, Fulham had Belgian-Brazilian Andreas Pereira, ex-Flamengo, in the offensive sector. At Wolves, former Flamengo player João Gomes and his quality of passing sought to link the midfield to the attack set up with Matheus Cunha as a reference.

The initial actions were concentrated at the feet of the London team, who put goalkeeper José Sá to work and managed to beat him with a shot from Iwobi, just after six minutes. A few minutes later, the domain passed to the visitors. Much was regretted when a ball hit the post by Hwang Hee-Chan, but Matheus Cunha eased his frustration in the 21st minute, scoring the equalizer with a header. With the score equal, the game progressed with Fulham more dedicated to regaining the advantage, but with a lot of limitations in completing the plays.

This difficulty was resolved in the second half, as Cairney conceded a penalty after ten minutes, and Willian converted. Once again at a disadvantage, the visiting team showed good resources in midfield to make it clear that they would not give up so easily. A beautiful pass from João Gomes almost ended in a goal for Lemina, who did not finish with the same quality as the assistance given by his teammate.

The new equalizer came at 29, as it was Wolverhampton’s turn to have a penalty in their favor, conceded and converted by Hwang. The game had another penalty, for Fulham, and this time to decide the score once and for all. Willian was again chosen to take the penalty, after a foul suffered by Harry Wilson, and converted.
