The former Minister of Health in the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Marcelo Queiroga, announced this Wednesday (14) his affiliation with the PL with a view to running for mayor of João Pessoa, capital of Paraíba, in the 2024 elections.

The presentation of the affiliation took place during a party event in Brasília, with the participation of the former president. Queiroga said his goal will be to “uphold the legacy of Jair Bolsonaro to help build a better Brazil for Brazilians”.

The PL representative, Valdemar Costa Neto, said that Queiroga’s candidacy for mayor of the capital of Paraíba has the support of Bolsonaro and the former first lady, Michelle Bolsonaro.

“Queiroga has a lot of experience in the public sector, he was Minister of Health in a difficult time and he conducted his work in an exemplary manner. This will be very important for João Pessoa. He has the support of President Bolsonaro, he has the support of First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro,” he said.

The former minister also said that the former president’s political group will “return to power so that the country can have its great destiny” and that it is an “honor to join party life in a party that defends the true values ​​of Brazilian family”. Deputy Bia Kicis (DF) and Senator Magno Malta (ES) were also present at the PL event.
