Former CBF director says she discovered clandestine cameras – 12/06/2023 – Sports

Former heritage director of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), architect Luísa Rosa said in a statement to the Public Ministry of Labor that she discovered a spy apparatus installed in camouflage on the ceiling of the restaurant at the entity’s headquarters, in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.

The location, on the fourth floor of the building, is frequented daily by CBF management, employees and visitors. The equipment would have been noticed earlier this year during renovation of the site, which had infiltration problems.

“During the renovation, [a ex-diretora] discovered that there were cameras and bugs installed clandestinely in the restaurant on the fourth floor”, says a report of her statements to prosecutor Fabio Luiz Iglessia on August 17 of this year, obtained by Sheet.

The statement took place in the context of accusations of moral and sexual harassment made by the former director against the CBF, which were revealed in June this year by the website Globoesporte.com.

The first female director in the entity’s history, Rosa was announced for the position with pomp by the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, in April 2022, as proof of her commitment to diversity.

Responsible for supervising all physical works at the headquarters and external facilities, she was in the role for just 15 months.

The former director did not detail to the MPT the spy apparatus she claims to have discovered, but the Sheet had access to other information and photos of the supposed arapongagem structure.

According to Rosa’s description, there would be five cameras on the ceiling, disguised as smoke detectors. The devices were noticed by the then director’s team shortly after Carnival, during anti-infiltration works. They would have been installed during the January holidays by people linked to Ednaldo.

To prove that they were not detectors, members of the former director’s team even sprayed them, which did not beep.

Furthermore, there would be a type of control room in the CBF president’s own office, similar to those found in condominium guardhouses, with a screen showing all the cameras.

When contacted, the former director did not want to speak out, as the case is confidential.

The CBF communications department also said it would not comment.

In her statement to the MPT, the former director reaffirms the accusations of moral harassment, citing Ednaldo.

She says she was disallowed by the president of the CBF in hiring companies to carry out the anti-infiltration works and points to interference from Arnoldo Nazareth, a close advisor to him, who wanted to hire another firm for the service.

Rosa also states that her powers were emptied, which led to depression and the need to take leave for eight days. She also reports episodes of sexual harassment.

“During lunch at the main table I always heard comments about women, the work of prostitutes with reference to their body parts”, reports the statement. She says she thought about asking to receive a meal voucher so she could have lunch in other places.

Furthermore, she stated that she “received messages from other directors and employees saying she looked beautiful and elegant.”

The entity is experiencing a period of upheaval, which threatens Ednaldo’s very survival in office.

This Thursday (7), the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro judges an action questioning the format chosen by former president Rogério Caboclo, in 2017, with the allegation that the vote gave disproportionate weight to the federations.

Caboclo left his position in 2021, after allegations of sexual harassment, and was replaced by Ednaldo.

If the election of the former president is considered irregular, the current one would also be affected.

Ednaldo’s group accuses two of his predecessors, Ricardo Teixeira and Marco Polo del Nero, of being behind the action and attempting a coup against him.

The poor results of the Brazilian team this year and the uncertainty regarding the new coach also help to create a climate of rejection for the entity’s president.
