Brazilian Felipe Gustavo, 32, won his first title in the SLS (World Street Skate League) this Saturday (7). In the women’s group, Rayssa Leal, 15, won the silver medal. The stage was held in Sydney, Australia.

Felipe beat Americans Dashawn Jordan and Nyjah Houston in the final. The skater from Brasilia gave an impeccable performance and finished with an overall score of 35.4, compared to 35 for Jordan and 27.1 for Houston.

“I dreamed of this moment every day of my life and it finally happened, in God’s time. Thank you very much to everyone who helped me, my family, my girlfriend, everyone in my city. We did it”, he celebrated.

In the women’s race, Rayssa lost to Australian Chloe Covell, just 13 years old, with a turnaround on the last lap.

The Maranhão native, who became known throughout the country as the “skateboard fairy” after winning the silver medal at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games, made a mistake in the last maneuver and ended up with 31.8 points.

Encouraged by the local fans, the opponent managed to close the race with a score of 33.4. Japanese Momiji Nishiya completed the podium in third place.

Rayssa and Chole celebrated together. Champion in the Chicago (United States) stage, the Brazilian played as if she were taking a crown off her own head and placing it on the Australian’s.

“She’s one of my best friends and favorite skaters, and an inspiration to all of us girls,” the winner said of Rayssa.

“Thanks so much for the fans, Brazil. Happy to have given my best,” the Brazilian posted on social media.

The last stage of the World Skate Street League of the season is scheduled to take place in São Paulo, between the 2nd and 3rd of December.
