The 52nd Expofeira do Amapá, promoted by the State Government, is marked by the diversity of the programming. One of the attractions was the Amapá Breaking Battle, which brought together an audience of different ages at the Fazendinha Exhibition Park, in Macapá. The competitions were in the male, female, kids and trios categories.
One of the tournament’s champion athletes was B-Girl Cindy, who won the female category. The final duel was against B-Girl Stephany, just 10 years old.
For the winning athlete, events like this, with the presence of the female category, are important to spread the sport among women.
“It is very gratifying to be able to bring this representation to breaking and it is even more gratifying to see a new generation like Stephanny, we still have few girls competing, but I hope this changes in the future”, declared the B-girl.
The competition attracted the public during the event, as is the case with Tinale Monteiro. Together with her husband, Vanderlan, she took her children to watch the children’s program that took place at Expofeira and while strolling through the park, she was enchanted by the breaking competitions.
“It’s interesting because our children are already getting to know this sport and may even be interested in practicing it, which is very good, because we know the benefits of sport for people’s quality of life. And breaking is a lovely sport”Tinale said.
In addition to Cindy, Bboy Snoop was also champion on the night, after a great fight against Bboy Françoá, the already experienced athletes performed maneuvers that surprised the public.
In the Kids category, the title went to Bgirl Yasmim and in the Trios category, the CBL team won the competitions. The prizes were R$500, R$300 and R$200 for the first, second and third place in each category, except Kids.
“The objective of bringing breaking into our programming is to make the population aware of breakdance, which will now be an Olympic sport at the Paris Olympics. We are even working to put together an Amapá national team and take advantage of these talents in future championships”, highlighted the Secretary of Sports and Leisure (Sedel), Rudney Cunha.
