Federation annuls expulsion of Vini Jr. and punishes Valencia – 05/23/2023 – Sport

The Royal Spanish Federation annulled the expulsion of Vinicius Junior in Real Madrid’s match against Valencia, last Sunday (21). He also decided to close the Mario Kempres tribune, at the Mestalla stadium, for five rounds, where most of the racist offenses against the Brazilian striker came from.

For the incidents, Valencia was fined 45,000 euros (R$ 241,000, at current prices).

With the end of the suspension, the player will be able to enter the field this Wednesday (24), when Real receives Rayo Vallecano, at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

The striker accused Valencia fans of calling him a “monkey” – videos on social networks show the corners of the stands. The episode generated discussion between athletes from both teams and the Brazilian, later in the match, received the red card.

As a result of the incidents, three men, aged between 18 and 21, were detained by the Spanish police this Tuesday (23). They were released hours later.

The attacks against the player led the Public Prosecutor’s Office to open an investigation for “hate crime”, a criminal category that, in Spain, includes racist crimes.

The Antiviolence Commission, a body linked to the Higher Sports Council, announced that it was examining the images available to identify the perpetrators of the insults and “propose the corresponding sanctions”.

Another four fans were arrested, suspected of having hung a doll of the player on a Madrid bridge, in January this year, before the derby between Real and Atlético de Madrid.

The four detained in the capital are allegedly responsible for a “hate crime”. Three are “active members of a radical group of fans of a Madrid club”, adds the note.
