The president of the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region, judge José Amílcar Machado, decided to overturn the injunction that suspended Notice number 01/2024, from Unifap, preventing the disclosure of any result of the institution’s last selection process, alleging non-compliance with student quotas of public education.
The request for suspension of the injunction was formulated by the Federal Public Defender’s Office (DPU), as it understood that the monocratic judicial decision could potentially cause serious damage to order, security and the public economy.
Judge Amílcar, in the decision, among the justifications, says that the injunction, in addition to potentially causing serious damage to public order, causes undeniable harm to those assisted by the DPU, as it reduces the places reserved for public school students, the majority of whom needy.
