The Civil Police of São Paulo identified the Flamengo fan suspected of the death of Gabriela Anelli Marchiano, 23, with the help of facial recognition used to access the Palmeiras stadium.

Jonathan Messias Santos da Silva, who is a teacher, is 33 years old and lives in Rio de Janeiro, had his temporary arrest decreed. He was arrested in the Campo Grande neighborhood, west of Rio.

According to Ivalda Aleixo, chief delegate of the DHPP (Department of Homicide and Personal Protection), he did not react to the arrest and remained silent. Police did not say whether the suspect had presented a lawyer.

According to the Civil Police, the virtual reconstruction carried out with images taken in the moments before Gabriela’s death indicates that only the flamenguista threw bottles in that direction.

With that conclusion, the next step was to follow the path he made until he entered the stadium.

According to the Civil Police, images show that the man even changed his shirt. He wore one in gray when throwing the bottle and already wore one of Flamengo when entering the stadium. The police, however, do not believe that the exchange was a way to get rid of the crime.

The investigation then checked several images of Allianz Parque until it identified and reached the prisoner.

“Every person who enters the stadium has their image taken. If they are already registered, there is biometrics, comparison.
