Even injured, the defender Eder Militão extended its link with the Real Madrid this Tuesday. The Brazilian national team player signed a new contract, now lasting until June 30, 2028. The previous agreement would end in 2025.

When announcing the renewal, the Spanish club praised the player’s evolution since his arrival at the team in 2019, at just 21 years old. In a brief statement, Real said that Militão “has become one of the best defenders in the world”.

Since joining the Madrid team, Militão has already played 143 games, with 11 goals, as well as nine titles: a Champions League, a FIFA Club World Cup, a European Super Cup, two Spanish Championship trophies, a Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cup cups.

The club did not reveal the figures involved in the new contract. But the Spanish press pointed out that the player should receive 6 million euros (around R$32 million) per season.

Militão has been sidelined since August 12 last year. He suffered a serious injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee at the beginning of the current European season. Initially, the forecast was for a decline for at least nine months, which would make the player’s return this season unfeasible.

The Brazilian defender is the fifth Real player to renew his contract with the club during the current season. Before him, Brazilian strikers Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, Uruguayan midfielder Valverde and French midfielder Camavinga extended their contracts.
