Internacional reported, on Friday night (27), that it received, during the afternoon, the decision from the Conmebol Disciplinary Unit regarding the case involving the athlete Rodrigo Moledo. The decision penalizes the athlete with a 12-month suspension, starting from July 13th of this year.

In July, the defender had been provisionally suspended by Conmebol for the alleged presence of the substance ostarine in an anti-doping test carried out after a Copa Libertadores game. On that occasion, on May 25, Colorado beat Metropolitanos-VEN 2-1 at the Estádio Olímpico de la UCV, in Caracas, Venezuela, in the fourth round of Group B.

In a statement, the club stated that it will continue to provide all legal support to the athlete until the final processing of the demand and will study the relevant appeal measures together with the player.

Understand what ostarine is

The substance has an anabolic action, directly interfering with receptors linked to androgenic hormones, especially testosterone. Ostarine is used to increase muscle mass, strength and performance. Since 2008, its use has been considered doping by Conmebol.

“Ostarine has anabolic effects very similar to steroids. It acts exclusively within the muscle cell, which promotes this gain in strength. Therefore, it is also widely used by bodybuilders and bodybuilders”, said sports nutritionist, Renata Brasil.

“It has different side effects than synthetic steroids, in addition to having a shorter half-life, on average 24 hours. The advantage of ostarine, too, is that it is already beginning to show physical effects on performance, both in terms of resistance and strength gains, in low doses, up to 3 milligrams, which contributes to an increase in its use.”concluded Renata.
