The Ministry of Health distributed the second shipment of the dengue vaccine last week to seven states. The first delivery took place around ten days ago and was directed to the ten units of the federation where there is a higher incidence of dengue and a predominance of serotype 2.

The same priority criteria was applied in the distribution of the second batch, according to the folder. The chosen federation units and the number of doses provided were not informed.

The distribution of lots, which began in February, is expected to be carried out by November. During this period, the priority will be to vaccinate children and adolescents aged 12 to 14.

The state of São Paulo announced on the 12th the receipt of 79,400 doses of the vaccine, which were directed to children aged 10 and 11 in the 11 municipalities of Alto Tietê, as determined by the federal government.

The municipalities of Áruja, Biritiba-Mirim, Guararema, Guarulhos, Ferraz de Vasconcelos, Itaquaquecetuba, Mogi das Cruzes, Santa Isabel, Suzano, Poá and Salesópolis have already started the vaccination campaign last week.

Children who have had the disease in the last six months or have had an acute febrile illness in the last 24 hours are not eligible to receive the vaccine. Immunocompromised people who have untreated HIV, who undergo chemotherapy and/or use immunobiological medications also cannot be vaccinated.

Girls aged 11 who have already had their first period must inform the date of their last flow.

The Ministry of Health purchased 5.2 million doses of the dengue vaccine and intends to immunize around 3.2 million children and adolescents aged 10 to 14 in 2024.
