In the municipalities of Santa Rosa and Nova Candelária, the main damage was to the physical structure of the accommodation, such as falling roofs, lack of electricity and damage to the hydraulic systems, informs the Department of Animal Health Surveillance and Defense (DDA) in a note. Trucks and people came from where we had not imagined…technicians, cooperatives, and we were able to transport the animals to other farms”, says Penz. Around 10,000 pigs must have been affected by the cyclone, estimates a survey by Alibem, which produces pork. Some animals will need to be slaughtered due to the lack of accommodation caused by the cyclone, points out Angêlo Meneghetti, the company’s managing director.
