CUT-AM holds election and Sintracomec-AM has representative

Valdemir Santana was re-elected for his third term, as president of the Central Única dos Trabalhadores do Amazonas
Manaus (AM) — In a Chapa Única election Valdemir Santana was re-elected for his third term, as president of the Central Única dos Trabalhadores do Amazonas (CUT-AM). The election took place at the 14th Congress, held over the weekend in Manaus at the Metalworkers Union of Amazonas.
Currently, CUT Amazonas has 105 affiliated Unions, all represented at the 14th Congress of CUT/2023. Of these, only seven rural unions form a delegation of 33 delegates. The other 98 unions, between rural and urban, with approximately 180 delegates, voted for the re-election of Valdemir Santana and his proposals for the inclusion of CUT Amazonas in the Amazon Council.
For the re-elected president of CUT, the effective participation of Fetagri in this 14th Congress was important and proves that rural unions have an effective role in the new proposals for the reunification of union movements and the integration of state workers in the implementation of public policies aimed at the Amazon, to be coordinated by the National Council for the Legal Amazon (CNAL), currently chaired by the vice president of the Republic.
Sintracomec-AM
The Civil Construction Workers Union of Amazonas (Sitracomec-AM) was also on the re-elected ticket. Carles Waldemar Sintracomec-AM’s financial director was elected as Culture Director of CUT-AM and declared that he is putting together strategies for the entity’s participation in the state’s cultural policies.
He believes that the struggle for better quality of work and income, as well as the defense of workers’ rights, also involves cultural knowledge. “Let’s be united with all affiliates, so that cultural knowledge and our struggles are known to all”he declared.
