Cristiano Ronaldo admitted having made a mistake by making an obscene gesture in the duel between Al Nassr and Al Shabab. The Portuguese broke his silence this Sunday (10), at a press conference, and denied the provocation to Lionel Messi.
“No one is perfect, life is made of mistakes. The less we do during our life, during our experience, the better. What I can promise is that being a player who gives everything on the field, a player with passion, a player who always wants to win”, explained Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a meeting with the press to talk about the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League, in which Al Nassr will face Al Ain, Cristiano Ronaldo took the opportunity to apologize for the controversial gesture he made in February.

The gesture happened after rival fans provoked CR7 by shouting Messi, according to the local press. The player pointed to the pelvic region in response at the time.
The Portuguese star acknowledged his failure and emphasized that he is dedicated, passionate and always seeks to win.

“I’m a player who doesn’t like to see people being anti-game. Many times, people have a bad interpretation of what I can demonstrate, but it’s not always what people think it is. I’d like to take the opportunity to talk today about the case in which They punished me for a game for what I did. It was a misunderstanding.”
Cristiano promised not to repeat the gesture in the country where he was suspended, but said that in Europe it is common.
“I will always respect the cultures of all countries, as I have until today, but what people see is not always reality. As I said and will say again, it is obvious that I will not do it again in this country, but, in Europe, it’s very normal. Sometimes the passion and emotion of the game leads us to make some mistakes.”
Cristiano Ronaldo was suspended for one game by the Disciplinary Committee of the Saudi Football Federation for obscene gestures towards Al-Shabab fans. He returned last March 7th.

In addition to the suspension, the player suffered a fine of 10 thousand Saudi riyals (around 13 thousand reais). Al-Nassr will also have to pay 20,000 Saudi riyals (46,000 reais) to Al-Shabab, as compensation for the costs of the process.
