Business Education for Climate Action

The program brought together leaders from more than 10 countries and took place in the city of Manaus

Manaus (AM) – With the theme “Business Education for Climate Action”, Fundação Dom Cabral brought together members of its International Advisory Board for the 15th Annual Meeting. The program brought together leaders from more than 10 countries and took place in the city of Manaus. Participants discussed how business schools around the world can train leaders capable of creating more sustainable approaches to the economy, business, organizations and society.

Through an immersive agenda in the Amazon, participants experienced experiences and held global discussions about climate change.

“The meeting was produced by an experience in a relevant territory in the Amazon and a collective of ideas on how academia, companies and the public sector can contribute to positive climate actions in favor of our planet”,

said Viviane Barreto, director of internationalization at FDC.

According to professor and director of the FDC Sustainability Center, Heiko Spitzeck, the meeting also contributed to raising awareness among leaders about the importance of a social perspective.

“It is not possible to save the forest if we do not generate income for the communities that live there. In ESG, the problem of E (environmental) is directly linked to the basis of S (social). So if we don’t create sustainable living methods for communities, it becomes difficult to protect the environment”,

pointed out the teacher.

“It was a very relevant experience for the Dom Cabral Foundation International Advisory Board to come to the Tumbira community, being the innovation and education center in sustainable production managed by FAS, the Sustainable Amazon Foundation. We had participants from Europe, the United States, Asia and Africa, and everyone had a very in-depth discussion about how the FAS experience can serve as an inspiration for the entire international debate on solutions for sustainable development. It was a great honor for FAS to receive a board with a very high standard of representation, qualification and, at the same time, Fundação Dom Cabral itself, which is one of the largest, most highly regarded executive education centers in the world”,

according to the general superintendent of FAS, Virgilio Viana.
