Pope Francis canceled his trip to COP28, the UN climate conference, which starts this Thursday (30) in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. The decision was announced in a statement by the Vatican this Tuesday (28).
This would be the first time that a pope would participate in the climate summit. The pontiff would give a speech in the event’s plenary session on Saturday (2).
The pope came down with flu last weekend. On Monday, Vatican sources stated, however, that he is already in a “good and stable” state of health and that he would continue the trip.
