Members of the Communist Party of China and the Workers’ Party (PT) will meet this Wednesday (20), in Brasília, to sign an “international integration” agreement. The meeting will take place at the PT national headquarters in the federal capital.

The PT did not say what exactly this agreement means. Sources linked to the left heard by the report only said that the signing of agreements between the two parties is a “tradition”.

The two organizations have tried to maintain closeness for years. In June this year, a PT delegation was sent to China to “consolidate cooperation” between the parties.

The president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, and Li Xi, secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China, will be responsible for signing the documents.

Brazil’s rapprochement with China is observed with caution, as Xi Jinping’s autocratic regime is accused of committing a series of human rights violations. Having held the position of Chinese president for 10 years, Jinping is accused of taking political prisoners and persecuting religious people.
