Responding to the federal deputy’s request Josenildo Abrantes (PDT-AP), The Financial Inspection and Control Committee, of the Chamber of Deputies, hears, on Thursday (21), the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, about the price of airline tickets and the offer of flights in Brazil.
Representatives from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the Ministry of Ports and Airports and the Association of Airlines were also invited.
Author of the request, the deputy Josenildo cites data from Anac showing that the average price of air tickets for domestic trips between January and March this year was the highest in a first quarter in more than a decade.
“In addition to the increase in fares, we are facing the frustration of a lack of flight offers, mainly direct flights and which mainly affects the North region, a problem that has been going on for years”, highlighted in the justification of his request, which considers the price of air tickets and the reduction in flights to be abusive.
“The combination of higher fares and reduced flight options limits access to air transport services, leaving a group of consumers out of the market”, he added. The hearing is scheduled for 10 am at a location to be determined.
