Amid a rift with his brothers in Ceará, the electoral birthplace of the Ferreira Gomes family, former minister Ciro Gomes (PDT) decided to raise the tone during a speech at the PSDB state convention — its former acronym, with which it still maintains alliances.

Ciro said that the state is being destroyed “by treason”. The speech is addressed to senator Cid Gomes (PDT-CE), with whom the former minister argued at the end of last week, during a meeting of the PED national executive. The two brothers compete for command of the acronym in Ceará.

In the split, alongside the parliamentarian are the rest of the family: Ivo Gomes, mayor of Sobral; Lia Gomes, state deputy; and Lúcio Gomes, who took over Companhia Docas do Ceará.

“Our state of Ceará is being destroyed from the path we followed. It is being destroyed by betrayal. It is being destroyed by lack of commitment”, stated Ciro, on the Tucano platform.

Still hurt by the 2022 campaign, in which he was abandoned by supporters in favor of Lula, Ciro also used his speech at the PSDB convention to make harsh accusations against the PT governments, both federal and state, currently governed by Elmano de Freitas.

“Today in Ceará, no public work can be carried out without having to pay a bribe. A public work cannot even be carried out in that state without paying bribes to those in power who are there”, said Ciro, who also stated that politics has become “synonymous with thieves , of lies, of privilege, that it will not be fulfilled”.
