The 2023 European Jiu-Jitsu Championship is still on fire in Paris, France, which is hosting the championship for the first time. Closing next Sunday (29), the European opens the calendar of the main IBJJF events in the season and brings together some of the best teams in the world, including Infight, which has professor and black belt Márcio de Deus at the head of the core social TMD House.

With the support of Seda College, an English language school located in Dublin, Ireland, Márcio was able to travel with six students to the French capital. The most prominent name is that of multi-champion Gabi Pessanha, who even won double gold (weight and absolute) at the 2022 European Championship and arrives as a favorite to repeat the feat.

“I feel that this is a good moment for the team, we are very focused, we have given up the December vacation. We train every day, on weekends, and this is a reflection of the focus that the guys are on for the European Championship. The team traveled with the support of Seda College, our master sponsor, and it certainly arrives very strong”, analyzed Márcio de Deus, who also added about his pupils:

“We have two athletes at adult black belt, Maria Cláudia and Gabi Pessanha, and others with real chances of medals at brown belt, Anderson Kauan, Gessica Soares and Gabriela Faria. blue belt quarterfinals, but he fought a lot. The whole team arrived focused and prepared in search of results. We’re going with everything”.

Márcio, it is worth mentioning, carries out beautiful social work in Cidade de Deus, a community in Rio de Janeiro. In addition to taking care of the project and acting as a teacher, the black belt is also a renowned referee, but at the 2023 European Championship, he decided to put all his energy into his athletes.

“I came exclusively as a coach, I’m not going to referee the Jiu-Jitsu European Championship, and that was my decision to take better care of my athletes, their mentality, which is a part that I consider very important in addition to technique and physique,” he concluded. .
