Celebration of Macapá’s 266th anniversary will have an 18-hour sports marathon – News of Brazil

The capital of Amapá is about to celebrate 266 years of foundation and the celebrations will take place over 3 days of programming. Macapá City Hall prepared more than 30 presentations by local artists, a sports program, the traditional Thanksgiving Mass at the São José Cathedral and a 50-meter cake. On the city’s anniversary, February 4th, there will be the inauguration of Praça Povos Meio do Mundo and the national show by the group Pixote, in Praça do Barão.

The celebrations will take place at the Central Market and other tourist attractions in the capital. The entire program is generally organized by the Municipal Culture Foundation (Fumcult), with the involvement of various municipal management bodies.

Among the new features of this year’s program are the sports marathon with 14 disciplines and 18 hours duration and the Circuito Brega Macapá, which will bring together brega lovers in the Central Market and Rock’n’Roll-Reggae – Hip Hop, with performances of bands and DJs in Praça da Bandeira.

More than two thousand people will be accredited to participate in the Street Race, on February 4th. The route is 7 KM, starting at 6am, departing from the Central Market and arriving at the Araxá complex. All runners will receive an official t-shirt, medal and fruit. Registration coming soon.

In addition to the race, 14 sporting activities will be offered: from midnight to 6pm on February 4th. The marathon will have a Skateboarding, Bike Cross, Rollerblading, Cycling, Futvolley, Futlama, Handball, Hand Beach, Indoor Volleyball, Beach Tennis, Beach Soccer, Crossfit and Powerlifting tournament. The competitions will take place at the Glicério Marques Sports Complex, Araxá Complex, Central Market and on the Santa Inês waterfront.
