A CBF has invested in approaching the federal government to make one of its main projects for the future viable: bringing 2027 Women’s World Cup to Brazil. In another step on this path, the entity’s president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, received the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, at the CBF headquarters, on Friday (29).

The meeting addressed a series of relevant issues, with emphasis on the partnership between the CBF and the federal government to make the World Cup viable. “It is essential that we work together. Minister Alexandre Padilha’s visit was extremely productive, addressing several topics of interest in football, especially the prospect of Brazil hosting the Women’s World Cup”, said Ednaldo.

Possible meeting with Lula

Another highlight was the possible meeting between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, during the Copa Libertadores final, which will be played in Rio de Janeiro, on November 4th. The objective is for President Lula to deliver the official proposal for the country to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the CBF’s initiatives in partnership with the Ministries of Justice, Sport and Racial Equality to combat racism and violence in football, reinforcing the commitment to promoting equality and safety in sport.

The meeting was attended by several authorities, including the secretary general of the CBF, Alcino Reis Rocha, the director of Governance and Compliance at the CBF, Hélio Menezes Júnior, and representatives of state football federations, demonstrating collective support for the holding of the Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
