Calleri scores twice and São Paulo beats Corinthians in a comeback

The fan of São Paulo keep celebrating. After the team achieved the unprecedented Brazil’s Cuplast Sunday, and defeat the Coritiba in the middle of the week, the tricolor team beat Corinthians 2-1, in a classic played this Saturday, at Morumbi, for the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship. Calleri scored twice for the home team, in the first half, after Angel Romero opened the scoring at the beginning of the match.

With the victory, São Paulo reached 34 points, nine points away from the relegation zone, and momentarily jumping to 10th place. Dorival Júnior’s team, which is already qualified for the next edition of the Copa Libertadores, returns to the field next Saturday, when they face Vasco, away from home.

Corinthians is currently stuck at 30 points, in 12th place, and continues to be threatened by relegation. The Parque São Jorge team hosts Flamengo, in the next round, also on Saturday. Before that, the Corinthians team will face Fortaleza on Tuesday, in the capital of Ceará, in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana semi-finals. A simple victory guarantees the São Paulo team in the continental decision.

With Mano Menezes suspended for his third yellow card, received when he was in charge of Internacional, assistant coach Sidnei Lobo was the one on the sidelines on the Corinthians side.
