Carlos Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, is among the targets of Operation Close Surveillance, launched this Monday (29). The Rio de Janeiro City Council reported that federal police officers were at the councilor’s office to execute a search and seizure warrant.

“The investigation took place from 7 am to 9 am, and was accompanied by [equipe de] security of the House and an advisor to the parliamentarian”, informed a note from the body’s advisors.

According to information from the Federal Police, Carlos Bolsonaro is “the main person in the family who received information from the parallel Abin”. The investigations also indicate that he came up with the idea of ​​creating this parallel group, to use the structure of the Brazilian Information Agency to illegally monitor public authorities and other people.

Earlier, when announcing that today’s operation aims to identify the “main recipients and beneficiaries” of information illegally produced by Abin, the PF reported that it was executing eight search and seizure warrants. Five of them in Rio de Janeiro and the others in Brasília, Formosa (GO) and Salvador (BA).

During the execution of the search and seizure warrants against Carlos Bolsonaro, equipment was found that belonged to Abin. In view of this, the agency’s social communications coordination informed the Brazil Agency which “immediately began investigating the case”.
