Brazilian Luiz Oliveira wins 1st fight in the Boxing Pre-Olympic – News of Brazil

The boxer from São Paulo Luiz Oliveira, Bolinha, debuted with victory in the Pre-Olympic Boxing Tournament, in the city of Busto Arsizio (Italy). The competition distributes four places per category at the Paris Games. On Monday (4), Luiz Bolinha advanced to the second round of the 57 kilos after defeating rival Munarbek Seiitbek Uulu, from Kyrgyzstan, 4-1. The Brazilian returns to the ring next Friday (8) to face Israeli Vladislav Voroshilov. In total, 28 athletes compete for four places in the 57 kg.

In addition to Luiz Bolinha, the Brazilian men’s team includes Yuri Falcão from Espírito Santo (- 63 kg), bronze at the Pan-American Games in Santiago (Chile), and Wanderson de Oliveira from Rio, known as Shuga, bronze last year at the Boxing World Championship, in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).

In the women’s category, the country’s only representative in the tournament is Viviane Pereira (75 kg) from Brasilia.

Brazil has already secured 160 places at the Paris Games, nine of them in boxing. In the women’s category, Bárbara Santos (66kg), Beatriz Ferreira (60kg), Caroline Almeida (50kg), Jucielen Romeu (57kg) and Tatiana Chagas (54kg) are classified; and in men Abner Teixeira (+92kg), Keno Marley (92kg), Michel Tindade (51kg) and Wanderley Pereira (80kg).

The second and final Boxing Pre-Olympic will take place from May 26th to June 2nd, in Thailand.
