Brazil closes Dubai Paralympic athletics GP with six medals – News of Brazil

Brazil ended its participation in the Paralympic athletics Grand Prix with six medals (four gold, one silver and one bronze). Just last Thursday (15), the last day of competition held in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), the Brazilian delegation won three gold medals and one silver.

One of the Brazilian gold medals was won by Giovanna Gonçalves from São Paulo in the F32 class club throwing event (brain injuries). The athlete, who made her debut in international competitions in Asia, reached the mark of 26.25 meters and broke the Americas record. Silver went to Algerian Mounia Gasmi (24.58 meters) and bronze to Ukrainian Anastasiia Moskalenko (23.69 meters).

Verônica Hipólito, from São Paulo, also shone, who had already won a bronze in the 200 meter race in the T36 class (cerebral palsy) on the first day of the competition. On Thursday she climbed back onto the podium to receive gold in the 100 meters with a time of 14.83, followed by the Dutch Cheyenne Bouthoom (14.96) and the German Nicole Nicoleitzik (15.11).

Brazil also won gold with Edson Cavalcante from Acre, in the 100 meter race in the T37 class (cerebral palsy). He completed the race in 11.51, with Saudi Arabian Ali Alnakhli (11.61) and Andrei Vdovin (11.70), who competed without representing any country, completing the podium.

The last medal of the day was won by Eduardo dos Santos Pereira, a silver in the shot put event of class F34 (cerebral palsy). He reached the mark of 11.21 meters and was surpassed by Colombian Maurício Valencia (11.39 meters). Bronze went to fellow Colombian Diego Ferran Meneses (10.83 meters).
