Brazil and Venezuela set up an agenda to advance bilateral relations

The ministers of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and Venezuela, Mauro Vieira and Yván Gil, respectively, reviewed the bilateral work agenda aimed at advancing relations between the two countries, which were resumed in January after four years of suspension, reported this Monday ( 11) the Venezuelan chancellor himself.

On Twitter, Gil stated that, during a telephone conversation with Vieira, the two discussed the “work agenda to continue advancing in favor of the well-being” of both peoples.

They also exchanged “opinions on issues of bilateral interest,” according to the Venezuelan minister, who did not provide further details.

Delegations from both countries recently met in Caracas to promote binational trade and ratify the commitment to jointly combat smuggling across the common border.

The parties approved the installation of an administrative commission to deal with economic complementation agreements and a work commission for the “evaluation of Brazilian products of animal and vegetable origin”, according to a statement from the Venezuelan government.

In addition, the delegations “agreed to meet soon to establish the corresponding technical tables with the aim of relaunching the bilateral relationship within the framework of building the new map of cooperation based on the principles of solidarity and complementarity.”

Relations between the two countries, suspended in 2019, were resumed on January 1 with the return of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to the presidency.
