8/1 CPI breaks secrecy of Silvinei Vasques, former PRF – 07/11/2023 – Power

The January 8 CPI approved this Tuesday (11) the breach of banking, tax, telephone and telematic secrecy of the former general director of the PRF (Federal Highway Police) Silvinei Vasques between January 1 of last year and January 30 April of this year.

Silvinei was summoned to testify last month because of inspections on federal highways in the second round of elections. The suspicion is that, under his command, the PRF tried to make it difficult for Lula (PT) voters to get to the polls.

Since last year, the former director of the PRF has been investigated for three acts, all related to a possible favoring of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) during the election campaign. He was removed from office on December 20.

In addition to the suspicion surrounding the PRF operation —especially in cities in the Northeast region—, Silvinei declared his vote for Bolsonaro on the morning of the second round, and is accused of having been lenient during the blockade of roads after Lula’s victory.

This should be the last session of the CPI before the recess. Officially, the break only starts next Tuesday (18), but the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), anticipated the “vacation” —which, by law, could not even be taken now because the project of Budgetary Guidelines Law was not voted.
