This Wednesday (11), the Liberal Party (PL) released a video on social media in which the former president, Jair Bolsonaro, calls on people from Santa Catarina to take part in an act against abortion to be held tomorrow, in the city of Chapecó (SC ).

“We will be together at 4 pm in a great ecumenical act in the presence of parliamentarians, priests, pastors, governor Jorginho Mello (PL-SC) and the mayor (of Chapecó) João Rodrigues (PSD) in this act in defense of life, against the abortion,” says Bolsonaro in the video published by PL on the social network.

On Sunday (8), around 100 Brazilian cities gathered crowds in peaceful protests against abortion. The “Walk for Life and Against Abortion” was part of a series of reactions by the pro-life movement to the recent attempt by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to judge the decriminalization of intrauterine murder up to the 12th week of pregnancy.

For Thursday (12), the organizers expect the largest pro-life march in the history of Brazil to take place. Demonstrations are planned in all capitals and in more than 50 cities in the interior of the country.

Initially, the organizers avoided including Brasília. The decision was reviewed, and the federal capital was included following a request from lawyer and former judge Sebastião Coelho.

The anti-abortion agenda will receive greater prominence at the event, but other pro-family issues should also be mentioned in the demonstrations, such as the stance against drugs and gender ideology.
