Brazilian Daniel Alves, 40, sentenced to four and a half years in prison for rape in Spain, is no longer one of the legends of Barcelona, the club for which he made 434 appearances. The former player was convicted of raping a young woman, then 23 years old, in the bathroom of a nightclub in Barcelona, on December 30, 2022.
On the page dedicated to the legends of the Catalan team, the Brazilian appeared alongside the Spaniard Gerard Piqué and the Argentine Lionel Messi, as can be seen on the website web.archive.org, which records old versions of web pages.

In Brazil, the Bahia museum, inside the Arena Fonte Nova, in Salvador, removed the image of Daniel Alves from its walls after the former player was convicted.
Born in Juazeiro (BA), Daniel Alves played for Bahia from the age of 15 to 19, before being sold to Sevilla and becoming a football star wearing the shirts of Barcelona and the Brazilian national team. The former full-back’s image was in a gallery alongside photos of other club idols.
The Bahia museum’s gesture adds to other demonstrations against the player’s image. In Juazeiro, residents demand the removal of a statue of Daniel Alves built in 2020. The City Hall says it will wait for the final decision to be made – there is still an appeal against the decision of the Spanish Court.
