After Coritiba’s relegation to the second division, with the defeat to Fluminense, 2-1, on Saturday (25), Arthur Moraesthe club’s head of sports, held a press conference after the club’s fall to Series B was mathematically confirmed. In just over ten minutes, the professional avoided talking about the future, and stated that the time was to respect the fans’ feelings.

Artur avoids, for example, talking about the continuity of coach Thiago Kosloski, who has been in charge since July, and also did not give details about what Alviverde’s planning will be like for next year.

“This is not the time to point out mistakes or anything individual. We are here to take on all responsibilities and we won’t run away from it, but it’s important to say that we are in a post-game where everyone is sad and disappointed. Now is not the time to give details or express anything that we have analyzed and that we need to correct. The important thing is that from Monday we will have new directionssecurity, stability, and a new Coritiba that we have the idea of building”, said the leader to the press at Maracanã.

The sporting head highlighted that the club needs to be assertive in its upcoming choices, in addition to acting in a “cold and judicious” manner within its objectives for next season, now in the second division.

“We have to be calm, cool and analyze the facts, that from Monday onwards a new Coritiba will be born. We have to be very assertive in our choices, cold and judicious in what we want to build. And from now on we project epbuild a strong and competitive team for next year“.

According to him, the fans’ feelings need to be respected. Moraes is one of those most sought after by the white-and-white fans, alongside the club’s CEO, Carlos Amodeo. For months, the two have been the main names cited by fans in protests inside and outside the Couto Pereira stands.

“We are disappointed, but we are also confident that a lot has been planted to be harvested in the near future. The word at this moment is respect for the feeling of the Cox-Branca fan. We will continue to work towards what Coritiba’s project is in the medium and long term. In the short term we didn’t achieve what was expected, but in the medium and long term we are sure we will get there”, he continued.

Artur highlighted the difficulties the club had in forming a competitive team for the championship. Coxa spent every round of the championship in the relegation zone and achieved negative records during the campaign. Alviverde had the longest winning streak in history, with 18 games without winning, and then went on a streak of eight defeats.

“Many things didn’t happen because the July window would be punctual, but we had to rebuild a team in the middle of the year, where players came from Europe out of shape, it took them a while to get into the idea. And within the competition, that was a great difficulty internally. But it was all done with what we had in our hands”, he said.

On the field, Coxa, already relegated, faces Botafogo in the next round, on Wednesday (29), at 9:30 pm, at Couto Pereira, for the 36th round.
