The last day of the Arnold Sports Festival 2024 – the second largest bodybuilding championship in the world – saw Brazilians Diogo Montenegro, Vinicius Mateus, Vitor Chaves, Josué “Gorila Albino” Fabiano and Rafael Brandão in prominent positions on the podium. Diogo Montenegro was champion of the Men’s Physique category, the same one that awarded Vinicius Mateus in second place and Chaves in third place. Josué Fabiano and Brandão won bronze medals in their categories.

On the first day of competition, Francielle Mattos reached first place in the Wellness category, while Isa Pereira was runner-up. In Classic Physique, Ramon Dino also won the silver medal.

The competition, created by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1989, reached its 35th edition with seven categories. There were 13 Brazilians in the competition, with two athletes in first place, three runners-up and three bronze medals.

See the results by category below:

Classic Physique

Ramon Dino faced 11 competitors. The “Dinosaur of Acre” — Ramon’s nickname — surpassed competitors such as Urs Kalecinski and Breon Ansley, but did not stand out against the Dutch Wesley Vissers. Although the Brazilian showed better conditioning and size in his quadriceps, glutes and hamstrings, Vissers stood out in his upper limbs, winning the gold medal.

Arnold Classic (“open”)

Brazilian Rafael Brandão took to the stage with more volume compared to his previous performances. This evolution, together with a good depth of muscle cuts, guaranteed the bodybuilder the bronze medal. Iranian Hadi Choopan was the champion, with Nigerian athlete Samson Dauda in second.

wellness

Francielle Mattos competed for the award with Brazilians Isa Pereira Nunes and Bruna Seredich, as well as nine other bodybuilders. Mattos came first and Nunes reached second place. This result — the same as Mr. Olympia 2023 — consolidates the classic and respectful rivalry between the two. Seredich reached fourth place.

“My wish is to rest a little, but not from training. [risos]. I want to rest my mind, spend more time with my family and go out with them”, said Mattos after the victory.

Men’s Physique

Diogo Montenegro arrived on stage with volume and detail in his back, guaranteeing the gold medal. Vinicius Mateus also stood out, with excellent muscle density and conditioning, taking second place. Vitor Chaves completed the podium, made up 100% of Brazilians.

Bikini

After a hiatus, Angelica Teixeira returned to the stage with fluidity between poses and good conditioning, but still not enough to reach the podium. Teixeira reached fourth place. The current Olympia Lauralie Chapados established herself as a three-time Arnold champion.

Brazilian athlete Isa Pecini was called up, but underwent emergency surgery to remove her appendix and was unable to participate in the competition.

Wheelchair

In the wheelchair-only category, Josué “Gorila Albino” Fabiano showed superior muscle volume in his chest, but had less detail in his back than his competitors. For the first time on the Arnold Ohio stage, Gorilla Albino came in third place, with Italian Gabriele Andriulli in second and Indian Rajesh John as champion.

Fitness

No Brazilian participated in the category. The champion was the American athlete Ariel Khadr. Bodybuilders Jaclyn Baker and Jodi Boam also reached the podium, in second and third place, respectively.
