APAVCF, Valencia’s shareholders’ association, filed a complaint with the Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office for “criminal offense of libel and slander” against the Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelottifor his statements at the press conference at the Mestalla, in which, after Vinícius Junior receiving racist insults from supporters of the home team, stated that it was about the “whole stadium”.

The association alleges that Ancelotti who “treated an entire stadium with 46,002 spectators as a racist” and who “transmitted false accusations, possibly intentionally and, as a result of them, Valencia CF saw its image damaged, as well as that of its fans and shareholders”.

“Furthermore, the diffusion power that these words have for being from the Real Madrid coach has also damaged the image of the Valencian Community by associating it with generalized racism”, he adds.

The association asks the Public Prosecutor’s Office to carry out the “relevant investigation” and present “the relevant complaint on behalf of the injured parties”, but in its statement it also leaves open the possibility of filing a lawsuit for injury against the coach.

The complaint literally includes some of the expressions that the coach used in the Mestalla press room on June 21, such as “the atmosphere is racist”, “the whole stadium screamed monkey, monkey, monkey”, “it wasn’t a person who went crazy , here a stadium went crazy” and “I have never seen an entire stadium make racist slurs”.

In addition, the APAVCF claims that it demanded in a statement that the Italian coach rectified himself, “without any apologies being offered on his part”.

However, the Real Madrid coach changed his statements two days later, assuring that he was not referring to “46,000 people, just a group that behaved very badly”.

“It wasn’t 46,000 and I apologize if that was understood that way, but it wasn’t two or three either,” he said.
