Former Minister of Sports Ana Moser is the new member of the Fiscal Council of Sesc (Social Service of Commerce). She will replace the Minister of Social Security, Carlos Lupi, as representative of the INSS (National Social Security Institute) on the board.

Moser’s appointment and Lupi’s dismissal were published yesterday in the DOU. UOL contacted the former minister to ask for a position and is awaiting a response.

In the new position, the former minister can earn up to R$28,600. Remuneration will depend on participation in monthly Board meetings. According to Sesc, each full member earns R$4,770 per session they attend. As the meeting limit is six per month, Moser can earn up to R$28,620.

Moser was fired from the Ministry of Sports about two months ago. Her departure was defined by the government on September 6, after pressure from the center. The former minister was replaced by the then federal deputy André Fufuca (PP-MA), considered one of the politicians closest to the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL).

The former minister’s team expressed “sadness and dismay” at her dismissal. In a note at the time, management at the Ministry of Sports spoke of “temporary interruption of an inclusive, democratic and egalitarian public sports policy in the federal government”. Moser said on X (formerly Twitter) that he “delivered a lot”, although he had little time “to change the reality of sport in Brazil”.

The Board is responsible for monitoring and examining Sesc’s accountability. The Fiscal Council is also responsible for representing and making proposals to the National Council if irregularities are identified in the budget.

Today, the Sesc Fiscal Council is made up of:

  • 2 trade representatives and their substitutes, all union members, elected by the CNC (National Trade Confederation);
  • 1 representative of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and his deputy;
  • 1 representative of the Ministry of Planning and his deputy;
  • 1 INSS representative and his deputy, appointed by the Minister of Social Security;
  • 1 representative of the Ministry of Social Development and his deputy;
  • 1 worker representative and his/her alternate, nominated by the trade unions that meet the criteria established by the Minister of Labor.
