Amazonian 3×3 basketball athlete wins award at CBDU’s Best of the Year

Victório Cestaro, who has been working in the sport for over 10 years, highlighted the importance of representing Amazonas in the national event

Manaus (AM) – Victório Cestaro from Amazonas was awarded the trophy for outstanding international athlete, at the Best of the Year (MDA) event, held by the Brazilian Confederation of University Sports (CBDU), on Tuesday night (26). A member of the Bolsa Sport Estadual and the Amazonas Project at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the athlete was honored for his achievements and achievements, in the 2023 season, in the 3×3 basketball modality.

The award given by CBDU to Victório highlighted the athlete’s unprecedented achievement in winning third place in the Pan-American University Championship, held in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico, in July 2023. The player, who has been playing for more than 10 years in the sport, highlighted the importance of representing Amazonas in the national event that featured the best athletes in the country.

“My feeling is gratitude, because I was chosen among the best in Brazil and, if it weren’t for the support of the Government of Amazonas, I wouldn’t have gotten this award. All the national competitions, sporting materials, all the encouragement through Bolsa Sport are helping me achieve my best performance in basketball”,

said Victório Cestaro.

The award is held annually and includes the achievements of the previous year by athletes, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), State University Federations (FUEs), sponsors and partners in the national university sports scene.

“This result only confirms Victório’s commitment and dedication to the sport. It is Governor Wilson Lima’s determination that these athletes have all the support and encouragement to continue conquering their space at national and international levels”, highlighted the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure, Jorge Oliveira.
