Manaus (AM) – Amazonas FC continues planning the next steps for the 2024 season. Last Thursday (28), the president of Onça-pintada, Weslley Couto, visited the facilities of the Antônio Afonso Jacob de Souza stadium, Afonsão, in the city of Careiro Castanho (86 kilometers from Manaus), as an alternative for the club to host its games later in the year.

According to the Aurinegro leader, the initial idea is to hold four matches at the venue, including duels against Paysandu-PA and Mirassol-SP, in May, valid for the sixth and seventh round of Series B of the Brazilian Championship. With the initiative, Amazonas seeks to strengthen its brand throughout the state, increasing the network of Onça fans and admirers.

“Afonsão recently underwent renovations, it is a new stadium, with good structure and that meets all the requirements established by the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) to host national competition games, not to mention the region where it is located, on the banks of the Rio Negro, in a setting that is the face of Amazonas”,

explained Couto.

On Sunday (31), Aurinegro will have its first experience as home team playing in the interior. In the quarterfinals of the second round of Barezão, the team faces Parintins, at the Gilberto Mestrinho stadium, Gilbertão, in Manacapuru (70 kilometers from the capital). The team led by coach Luizinho Vieira has the advantage of a draw to reach the semifinals.
