William Barbio scored twice for the Amazon team, but Ytalo and Sillas guaranteed the draw and the place for Leão

Amazonas drew 2-2 with Remo, on Saturday night (23), at Arena da Amazônia, and ended up eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Copa Verde 2024. With the draw at home, Onça-pintada was beaten by 4 to 3 on the aggregate score. William Barbio scored twice for the Amazon team, but Ytalo and Sillas guaranteed the draw and the place for Leão.

Classified, Remo awaits the winner of the clash between Paysandu and Manaus in the semifinals, which will decide the place this Sunday (24), at 4pm, at Curuzu. The next phase is scheduled for April 3rd and 10th.

The Jaguar returns to the field this Tuesday (26) to conclude its participation in the first phase of the return of the Amazonense Championship against Unidos do Alvorada, at 3:45 pm, at the Carlos Zamith stadium.

The game

Needing a victory by two goals to guarantee qualification directly, Amazonas had a dream start to the game. Still in the fourth minute, Diego Torres made a beautiful pass to Sassá, who came in front of the goal and headed the ball for William Barbio to shoot Remo’s goal and open the scoring. After the goal, the Jaguar continued on top and in the 10th minute, Rafael Tavares passed it to Sassá, who dribbled past goalkeeper Marcelo Rangel, but was left with no angle at the time of the shot.

Time passed and Amazonas continued to be more dangerous. In the 27th minute, played from the left, Barbio found Tavares inside the area and the number 10 crossed to Sassá, who completed it with his chest and the ball, whimsically, touched the crossbar and went to the baseline. Four minutes later, Tavares dominated the ball in the middle and finished left-handed, but Marcelo Rangel, in the middle of the goal, slotted it in.

Intense and engaging, the Jaguar reached the second goal in the first stage. In the 34th minute, Mantuan sent Patric behind the defense and the full-back crossed just enough for Barbio to finish with a left-footed shot into the back of Leão’s goal.

If the first was a dream for the Amazonian team, the second stage didn’t start so well. Still after ten minutes, Nathan crossed from the left, the defense didn’t clear it, the ball went through everyone and went to Ytalo, who finished from the right, into Edson Mardden’s corner and reduced it for Remo.

After a period of few chances, the team from Pará sought a draw in the 44th minute. Ronald received it on the right and crossed for Sillas, who freed it in the small area and sent it into the back of the Amazonas goal. Once again at a disadvantage in the tie, the Jaguar went on the attack. In stoppage time, Ezequiel crossed from the right and Jô completed a dangerous header, but it went wide.

In the 51st minute, Jô received a cross inside the area and finished for the goal, but Marcelo Rangel blocked it.
