The Government of Amapá began developing a project to provide new paths for preserving the environment with resources from the Amazon Fund. The proposals seek to obtain support for sustainable programs and reference models in the state’s economic development.

With more than 90% of its forests preserved, Amapá has a global and exemplary model of preservation based on the bioeconomy, which combines the preservation of forests with sustainability, as detailed by the director of Environmental Development at the State Secretariat for the Environment (Sema) , Marcos Almeida.

“With the return of the fund, the idea is to formulate this plan and, thus, raise more resources for greater monitoring and preservation of our biome, in line with sustainable development, generating more income for local communities. This training is yet another way to integrate all state departments to adapt to the program’s proposal guidelines”, pointed out Almeida.

Amazon Fund

With support from countries such as Norway and Germany, the Amazon Fund is an international program to support conservation and sustainable development projects in the Amazon region, financing environmental preservation initiatives.

The fund also finances initiatives for environmental control, monitoring and inspection, sustainable forest management, land regularization, recovery of deforested areas, among others.
