The CEO of Athletico, Alexandre Leitãoexplained about the change in technical command amid the dispute of the 2024 Paranaense Championship. Hurricane fired Juan Carlos Osorio after 12 games of the season and hired coach Cuca at the beginning of last month.
In an interview with the program Bola da Vez, from ESPN, which will air this Saturday (6), starting at 9pm, the director stated that the decision to leave the Colombian was a joint one at the club and that it was not “for a single reason and a single result”. Osorio left Athletico after his first defeat to Londrina, in the quarter-finals of the State Championship.
“Look, first the departure of a coach who interrupts a project, of a thought that existed and of the club towards him, is never simple, never for a single reason, never based on a single result. It was understood in the set of situations that was important for the continuation of the four championships that we have ahead of us, a very intense season, that there was this need for an exchange”, he declared.
Leitão also commented on Cuca’s arrival and said that the club gave the coach its full support on the issue of his involvement in the Berna Case, in Switzerland.
“Cuca is an exceptional coach, who experienced personal issues that he was willing to face and work on. And that is how the club understood the conversation with him and gave him all the necessary support he needed to be able to work on these personal issues that he had. I think he did it in a very good way, very mature, very sincere, and now it’s a process that takes a little longer. And I hope that, within his personal life, it calms down, solve it”, added Alexandre Leitão.
The CEO, who has extensive experience in football, will also talk about various topics in this interview, such as SAF’s, relationship with president Petraglia, goalkeeper Bento, MLS and much more.
