Agreement will promote training for women victims of violence in the “Maria da Penha Courts”

Manaus (AM) – The Court of Justice of Amazonas, through the State Coordination of Women in Situations of Domestic and Family Violence (Cevid/TJAM), signed Technical Cooperation Agreement No. 048/2023-TJAM with the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Businesses (Sebrae/AM), to enhance the actions foreseen in the “Reconstructing Trajectories” project, developed within the scope of the six Specialized Courts for Combating Domestic and Family Violence against Women (“Maria da Penha Courts”) in order to offer training and professionalization for women in situations of violence.

The Technical Cooperation Agreement formalizes a partnership that had already been occurring between the institutions and was signed on Wednesday (18) by the president of TJAM, judge Nélia Caminha Jorge; by the coordinator of Cevid/TJAM, judge Maria das Graças Pessoa Figueiredo; by the superintendent director of Sebrae, Ananda Carvalho Normando Pessôa; and the technical director of Sebrae, Lamisse Said da Silva Cavalcanti.

Working together, the victims treated at the “Maria da Penha Courts” are guided through the Multidisciplinary Service Teams to take professional courses offered in the areas of arts; beauty; communication; business; conservation and caretaking; education; management; hospitality; languages; computing; fashion; food production; health; tourism; lectures and various workshops.

According to the coordinator of Cevid/TJAM, judge Graça Figueiredo, from 2024 the project with Sebrae-AM will also extend to other districts of Amazonas to support women who suffer violence in the interior, where Sebrae has offices and It also works in partnership with city halls. She highlighted that the objective, with the definition of the action calendar, is to show women the possibility of entering the job market.

“Domestic violence has a heightened profile in the sense that women have no means of survival, economic dependence is a very high point preventing women from freeing themselves from this mistreatment”, said judge Graça Figueiredo.

According to the coordinator, the victim woman, when thinking about freeing herself from the cycle of violence, evaluates the survival situation with her children and economic dependence becomes an obstacle for her to free herself from the situation of mistreatment. “But if we provide conditions through agreements like this one signed with Sebrae, offering jobs and professionalization, women will have ways to escape this dependence on subordination to domestic violence.”

The superintendent of Sebrae/AM informed that a “Track of training” will be offered, both for the capital and the interior, within the project “Sebrae das, developing leading entrepreneurs passionate about success”, a program to seek results for business led by women.

“We are very excited about this partnership that aims to improve the lives of these women so they can escape this vulnerable condition. Women need to have autonomy, financial independence and strengthen their belief in their ability, worthiness and self-esteem, which is why Sebrae offers a training trail called ‘Sebrae das’, in which women will work on character strength, financial education , mentoring for starting businesses and increasing job vacancies”, explained director Ananda Carvalho Normando Pessôa.

Regarding the expansion of the partnership to the interior, technical director Lamisse Said da Silva Cavalcanti informed that Sebrae has partnerships with city halls in 62 municipalities and its own regional offices in eight cities that serve the surrounding municipalities.

“We have these agencies with management and staff from Sebrae and we can expand this service to the ‘Reconstructing trajectories’ project to rescue these women through entrepreneurship and knowledge. When we have knowledge we have more power, we have more attitude and we will present them with success stories and make them see that if one can do it, others can too. This is the proposal”, stated the technical director.

The agreement is valid for five years and does not involve the transfer of financial resources, with each institution being responsible for the amounts it may use in the actions to be developed.
