The Brazilian Workers’ Cause Party (PCO) declared this Monday (9) its full support for the “Russian military operation in its fight for the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine”. In notethe PCO stated that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which the party calls a “military operation”, “lit the flames of the oppressed around the world”.

The statement comes after the party paid tribute to the terrorist group Hamas for its attack on Israel this weekend, which has already killed 1,200 people and triggered yet another war in the Middle East. “Hamas lit the flame of resistance against the terrorist and fictitious state of Israel. All support for Hamas! End of Israel”, said the PCO on social media on Sunday (8).

This Monday, the party also stated that “without the Russian operation, perhaps the greatest retaliation to Zionist tyranny and terror in recent decades and, perhaps, in history would not have taken place”, referring to the Hamas attack against Israel.

“It is necessary to understand that Russian resistance to imperialism with the launch of the special military operation in Ukraine lit the flame of the oppressed throughout the world. Without the Russian operation, perhaps there would not have been several anti-imperialist coups in the Sahel region and throughout Africa,” said the PCO.

“All support for the Russian military operation in its fight for the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine, in its fight against NATO and in its fight against imperialism. Until victory!”, added the caption. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky compared Hamas’ attack on Israel to Russia’s invasion of his country. The Russians invaded Ukrainian territory in February 2022, causing thousands of deaths and destruction.

In a videoconference speech during a session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Copenhagen, Zelensky said that Hamas and Russia represent “the same evil, the only difference is that one is a terrorist organization that attacked Israel, and the other a terrorist state that attacked Israel. Ukraine”.
