The Port of Santana, managed by Companhia Docas de Santana (CDSA), ended last year with the biggest movement of recent times. “Above expectations”celebrated Edival Cabral Torkpresident of the organization, heard on the program ‘LuizMeloInterview’ (Diário FM 90.9) this Tuesday, 30th.

The topic of the interview on the program was about the Port of Santana having achieved record movement, driven by agricultural commodities. In 2023, more than 70 ships docked at the port to load cargo, moving 2.627 million tons.

Tork highlighted the contribution of agribusiness, and reported that all ports in the North region are expecting an increase in movement, but Santana’s was above what was expected. “Producers are looking for the lowest cost and shortest waiting time to dock; this is very important”, said the president.

“Today is reality”said Edival Tork about the shipment of soybean production from the Center-West. “For some time now we have seen the movement increasing, it almost doubled. This increase doesn’t come every year, there will come a time when the port will choke; We’ll have one more problem, but it’s a good problem.”he added.

“It’s like a team, when it’s full of stars, it’s good. We will have to make heavy investments over the next four years. As already predicted, the movement will be greater”said the president.

Regarding the investments that will take place in the space of the Port of Santana, Tork highlighted that there is the possibility of investing in dredging and expanding Pier 1. “These investments are very important, they should take place in two years”, concluded.
